Just Kidding. If only it were that simple. Like I said, I took a different approach- probably because I realized accepting Jesus was more than a one time thing. I knew that giving Him my life meant that I was committing to live for Him every day, no matter the circumstance. I knew that meant I had to change. I had to change my priorities, my actions, my goals- just about everything...and who really likes change? Especially when the change involves just about everything about you. With that, I made sure this God was worth changing for. So after about a month of reading different books and talking to people, learning what it truly meant to be a Christian, I decided to give my life to Christ. I decided to "become saved" so that I could finally enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Because everybody knows that you can't go to Heaven unless you're "saved."
Now that I'm 21, I realize that theology was way off. I thought I had to become saved to enter Heaven. Actually, many Christians still say one needs to become saved to enter Heaven. That "truth" is warped- it's a lie. There is no such thing as becoming saved. Yes, thousand of years ago, people did need to get saved to get to Heaven. But then Christ came along and died for our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and saved us from eternal damnation. He saved us! That's why we're celebrating Easter next month! But if we're already saved...and have been- since, like, forever...how do we get salvation?
You see, the problem in this world isn't that people aren't saved, it's that people aren't accepting the fact that they already are. There are so many people who say that God couldn't possibly forgive them for what they've done. They say that they're too far from grace. That they need to clean up their life and "get things together" before Christ will enter in. It breaks my heart to know that there are actually men and women out in this world who believe that God doesn't want them. That He couldn't love them because of their past. That mercy is out of reach. That they can't be saved.
The Devil is so good at helping us believe lies like that. He want's us to think that we aren't saved. But, truth is, we already are. We already have God's unconditional love. His unconditional forgiveness. His unconditional everything! It's time we start taking a different approach to Christianity. Instead of telling people that they need to be saved, we need to let them know that they have been saved. They only need to accept it. To us "saved" Christians, this seems like a little issue. But to those who don't know the truth, it brings them to a whole new ball park- a new way of thinking. With this vocalized truth, they can no longer say the "God can't" stuff. Instead of it seeming like the choice is up to God to save them if they're worthy enough, the choice points to them deciding if they will accept everything God has already given them. It will make it clear that all they need to do is open the door. It's not locked...and if it is, they have the key. It's within reach, too. But God can't open the door for them. It has to be their choice. They're already saved, but they need to accept it to receive the grace and eternal life that comes with it.
The world is full of lies, but the biggest lie one can believe is that he or she is not saved...and that is what this blog is all about.
